Note to reader: I am using this space and place to post parts of a new slip-fiction novel series I am working on, Left Brain Right, the story of a young girl who hears voices. Left-Brain excerpts will be from her care-takers’ point of view or the point of view of the friends and family around her, while right-brain excerpts will describe how she sees the situation. I will not be posting the whole story, but I will be posting practical tips when dealing with someone, or one’s own self, as they are going through traumatic, or not so traumatic, experiences.

How today’s story excerpt can help you:
Theme: Nothing is impossible. You are possible!
Author’s Notes: A lot of people think they can get rid of hate, anger, jealously, sadness, etc. What I have experienced, however, is that these feelings are always there. The best we can do is transform them into compassion, calm, love, and joy.
In today’s story excerpt Michelle, the main character, tries to free her fear only to find that it has simply attached itself to her like a shadow, and so she decided that it must come with her on her journey to find her light.
Meditation Session 10: Freeing Fear
Cue the floating flute music.
Dim lights already in check.
Eyes closed, down into the darkness
Back into the dungeon
where she met Fear
and got ready to push the button
that would take down the force field.
Fear smiled stealthily
as the wall came down
and attached itself
as Michelle’s shadow.
“Did you really think,
you could get rid of me
Fear laughed and smeared.
Disappointed and disgruntled
Michelle stopped and thought,
“well then,” she said bravely,
“I guess you’ll just have to go with me.”
“With you?” Fear giggled,
“Ooo.. to where?
It sounds like fun!”
Fear tapped its fingertips together.
“To the island of fire,
just like father time said,
the only problem” she paused,
“is how to get there.”
Fear tried to jump up and down,
but could only go so far
being attached to Michelle it said,
“I know! I know!”
“All you have to do
is think a through in your mind
of what it might look like,
just like how you got here.”
“Well, we’ll heard off tomorrow,
for today I have to go.”
Eyes closed Michelle faded out of meditation
and back into reality.
