Note to reader: I am using this space and place to post parts of a new slip-fiction novel series I am working on, Left Brain Right, the story of a young girl who hears voices. Left-Brain excerpts will be from her care-takers’ point of view or the point of view of the friends and family around her, while right-brain excerpts will describe how she sees the situation. I will not be posting the whole story, but I will be posting practical tips when dealing with someone, or one’s own self, as they are going through traumatic, or not so traumatic, experiences.

How today’s story excerpt can help you:

Theme: Meditation, I have found, is the tunnel and path to the “Spirit World.” Here, all problems can be resolved.

In today’s story excerpt, our main character Michelle, begins her first meditation session.

Right Side

Mediation Session 1
Where Spirit time meets real world time

Mats on the floor
lights that are dim
calm music comes
drifting in.

Images of nature
upon the screen
makes me feel
calm and serene.

I close my eyes
while a low constant chorus
of angles and flute float in.
I am ready.

I begin.
Down into the darkness
I let myself float
further and further away.

Until I come across
a mountain-side hill
that holds a small humble structure,
I enter in, still.

The view is breathtaking,
the structure is small.
Sunbeams naturally light
the dojo hall.

My Thunder Being meets me
in that simple, clean space,
lines of seriousness
etched upon his face.

Like Morphorus he motions,
it’s time to face and fight
those dark shadows of anger
that have your screaming at night.

Like a dark swirling cloud,
he takes a night fiery shape.
Its screech has me shaking.
It’s face mutate.

“I don’t want to be here!”
I drop and I cower.
“Ill be right beside you.” He says.
“Do not cower!”
