Note to reader: I am using this space and place to post parts of a new slip-fiction novel series I am working on, Left Brain Right, the story of a young girl who hears voices. I will not be posting the whole story, but I will be posting practical tips when dealing with someone, or one’s own self, as they are going through traumatic, or not so traumatic, experiences.

How today’s story excerpt can help you:

Theme: We often believe that people (we) only stand on one side or the other.  We either stand in the light, or in the darkness.  The truth is, we need both, just as seeds do. The choice is do we see the darkness as a scary evil place, or a place we can go into for peace and reflection?

Story Excerpt: (right side)

It Comes
Time Unknown

Michelle eventually found herself
standing
in an empty
sunless void.

She watched
as a white mist
and a dark, smoky form
began to take shape in the distance.

Light and dark
seemed to merge and split
as if participating in some
ancient, mystical dance.

The pulse of the drums
began again,
but this time, they intermixed
with what sounded like hooves:

Bum bum.. Bum bum.. Bum bum.. Bum bum
The Thunder Being is coming.
Bum bum.. Bum bum.. Bum bum.. Bum bum
The Thunder Being comes.

Electric slivers of ice
began to pop up
all throughout
her entire body.

Sweat began to form and gather
like drops of due upon her skin
and her heartbeat matched in time
to the pulse and vibration that was being created.

She dropped down
into a fetal position
and as she did
the sounds increased in intensity.

With each hit of a hoof
upon the ground
Bum, bum… Bum bum…
the ominous figure grew closer.

The ground shook beneath her
and then just as suddenly as it begun
all the noise and vibrations
stopped.

p.s. – There is a misspelling in the post-it-note.  It should be scorched, not scored. 😉
