Note to reader: I am using this space and place to post parts of a new slip-fiction novel series I am working on, Left Brain Right, the story of a young girl who hears voices. I will not be posting the whole story, but I will be posting practical tips when dealing with someone, or one’s own self, as they are going through traumatic, or not so traumatic, experiences.

How today’s story excerpt can help you:

Theme: When one retreats into one’s self, time, reality, and space overlaps, twists, and turns.  I’ve come to call these “inner-body experiences.” Which, I believe, can be just as real and valuable as ouster-body ones.

Story Excerpt: (right side)

                 Time inside of one’s self…
…is much different
…than real-world time…..
…outside time.

                                           When one
retreats
into
one’s self…

time….
…and space
…and reality
shift.

It overlaps,
twists
and
turns.

                                           It can even go
backward
and then
forward.

Minutes seem like
hours
and hours like
minutes.

Which make it difficult to determine
what exactly
one is
experiencing.

Michelle thought she must be having
something like an out-of-body experience,
except everything was happening
inside her body.

What would that be called?
an inner-body experience?
Where one can sense and feel
all that is going around them,

but
inside
everything looks and feels
totally different?
